Worked with a friend on this one for a flash competition (the theme was "A Note").

Ran into WAY too many problems and after finishing this one off, I'm extremely disappointed and frustrated with it (I mean, it LAGS! It's not supposed to do that!!). Don't think I'm ever using flash solely to animate things ever again. (any other alternatives I could use + import psd files to?)

But then again it'd be a huge waste of about over a month's work (plus juggling tight schedules) not publishing it somewhere.

So there you have it. Moving on to other projects...

Spoiler:
(By the way, if you're confused by the ending, Sam basically gets dragged under the bed and into this other world. That's all.)

Wow. Fantastic use of music. This is a great depiction of the common children's nightmare. I also love the "heaven" bit after. Well done!

Yay, it's finally done!
This is the one you're going to enter, right?
Btw, I've finished the Yoga outline!!
How's the fox drawing going?

Had to put the fox and what not on hold for this project, unfortunately. But now that this is done, I can finally get cracking on those art trades!

And yes, this is the one I'm entering, regrettably.

Why aren't you happy with it? Is it mostly because it lags in some places?

It doesn't live up to how I've visualized it. It could have been SO much better :(

It's too late to do that now, and I really want to work on some personal projects.

Cute! But so creepy, haha. I love the ending, it was great :D Say, how long did it take you to make this whole movie and what version of flash do you have?

With schoolwork and stuff, about one and a half or so months.
Also, I'm on CS5.

Flash secretly wants us animators dead. Seriously.

Thats pretty fast actually! Also yeah, flash really is out to get us x_x
I tried making a little animation and when most if it was done I tested it and BAM. It didn't work...at all. That program is so impossible!
But you did an awesome job getting all of your stuff to work!

Thank you! And yeah, I'm really thinking of trying out a new software lol, Flash was just programmed for programmers and site builders that want an impossible code to use, never for animators at first.

Well right now, I'm trying out photoshop as an animating tool - while I've always used it for illustrations, I've neglected its animating capabilities - so far it's looking pretty good, though I haven't found an easier way to sync audio.

Oh! I didn't know photoshop could be used for animating, that's pretty great. I can't wait to see your next animation now that you mention it.

Something new...I finally got a wacom! Illustrating is so much easier with it, and I've been trying out stuff on phootshop, I'll post something soon :D How long have you had your tablet?

i went on facebook and saw ur status "finally done with Bed" so i quickly came here and i knew i would find it XD
anyway, i liked it. I'm sure it would've been more suspenseful if it didn't lag, but it was enjoyable. :)
btw i wanna know:- did you do the music yourself? where'd u get the sfx? and i'm guessing the voices were all you. i need to know this stuff, add credits pls D:

Haha, you're an initiative one, yes? :)
And yeah I definitely agree with how it would've been more suspenseful and made more sense if it didn't lag. I'm especially angry at the scene where his arm gets grabbed by the thing under his bed - exporting chopped it off brutally :( Also, we had many other scenes and ideas for this short, but we ran out of time - deadline was today. I'm not feeling very good about it.

And yeah I did all the audio arranging myself - I got the sfx from videocopilot (it's all royalty free) and I recorded some of the sounds myself.

Voices: Me and a teacher.

i don't think you should feel that bad. but i'm guessing it's a big disappointment upon exporting compared to the original when u watch it on flash.

so did u compose the clips of music on garageband then exported that and arranged it on flash or..?

I got some clips, mixed them together, added a bit of my own stuff in it, arranged them on final cut because garageband's a pain to cut music with, and then sent it off to flash as one big chunk.
